DIVE JUDGE TRAINING 2026

The dive program runs on volunteers, and that includes the meet judges. Our team is required to provide 2 judges for home meets and 3 judges for away meets.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! This is a great way for parents new to dive to learn about the sport and get involved. We need YOU:)

Once you have created or recovered your account on Mcdiving.org, training and certification are self-service. You can see your certification status, get help with certification, and register for MCDL Training. The training process for becoming or recertifying as a JUDGE is still the same as last year: a two-step process.

1. Complete the NFHS online training prior to attending an in-person training by doing the following
  • Navigate to www.nfhslearn.com and create a free account
  • Once logged in to your account, select “Officials” along the top vertical menu entitled “Courses For”
  • Scroll down to locate the course entitled "Judging Springboard Diving”. While hovering over the course, a “Start Learning” button will appear. Click on that “Start Learning” button.
  • When you are ready to take the course, from your dashboard select “My Courses” and click on “Start Course”, “Continue Course,” or “Complete Course”. This selection depends on how much of the course you have completed.
  • When you have completed the course, download your certificate. This can be found on your dashboard under “My Certificates”.
  • Send your certificate to MCDL via the https://officials.mcdiving.org/ portal. Use the "Upload Training Certificate" button.
2. Attend an MCDL Judge in-person training
  • You can register for a training session via https://officials.mcdiving.org/
  • Dates for pool-side judge training are listed in this email below.
  • The online training must be completed prior to attending the MCDL pool-side training.
  • This training will focus on analyzing live diving and MCDL specific rules and will
    typically last 90 minutes.
Training must be repeated every three years to keep your certification active.

To be certified to be a REFEREE for an MCDL summer dive meet you must:

  1. Be a certified MCDL Judge who has judged MCDL meets for one year
  2. Attend an MCDL Referee recertification training online or in-person
  3. Repeat this process every three years to keep your certification active.
The dates for the Judge and Referee training classes for 2026 are:
