About the Montgomery County Dive League (MCDL)
The Montgomery County Dive League's Mission is to promote the safety, fun and learning of the sport of Springboard Diving through instructional practice and age-level competition. MCDL is a developmental recreational dive league designed to provide young divers with the opportunity to learn new skills, enhance previous achievements, and develop as strong league leaders, all while having lots of fun. MCDL is grounded in two fundamental principles: safety and sportsmanship. Divers compete against other children of the same age in several categories, divided by girls and boys: 8 & Under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18, Ages are calculated based on the diver's age as of June 1st. Volunteer Requirements
Summer swim and dive teams are run by volunteers. Meets and events need anywhere from 2 - 40 people to operate. If your child is participating in a meet, it is expected that your family will volunteer at that meet. Please sign up early and be willing to help out. It's fun and easy - some jobs like Die Judge required specific training, and you will need to be certified in the off-season, but most jobs do not require any previous experience with swimming or diving. Don't worry we'll train you! There are a few jobs available for older siblings who can earn SSL hours and it's fine if nannies or grandparents help out too.
Not comfortable being on deck this summer? No Problem -- there are lots of jobs that can be done "off the deck" and we can work with your family to make sure your obligations are met.
Thanks in advance for all you do to help make our swim and dive teams great!
